Description
Bench in downtown, in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Santa Fe, meaning "holy faith", is the oldest state capital in the United States. It was founded by Spanish Colonists in 1610. The city's full name as founded remains La Villa Real de la Santa Fe de San Francisco de Asis ("The Royal Town of the Holy Faith of Saint Francis of Assisi"). The city nestled in the Sangre de Cristo foothills, is known for its Pueblo-style architecture. The area was called Ogha Po'oge or "White Shell Water Place" by indigenous Tewa inhabitants.
