Casa Israelitica Di Riposo is a Jewish Old Age Home in Venice. The house is located in Campo De Gheto Novo. The Ghetto is located in the Cannaregio district of Venice. Not too far from here, the new neighborhood is connected to the old one - Gheto Vechio. Gheto Vechio is is the oldest and first ghetto in Europe, established in 1516. The neighborhood was built on the site of an old abandoned canon factory or foundry. The word Ghetto comes from the Venetian word for foundry, which was “ghèto.”
I am Portland, Oregon based photographer. I am fascinated by many genres, but I particularly love travel and abstract photography. I immensely enjoy the process of taking images. It gives me an opportunity to slow down, immerse myself into the scene. I love that feeling of complete absorption, when you get into a flow, a zenlike, meditative state. I hope that my images convey this same sense of immersion and allow the viewer to feel similar emotions.
